On the 28 December 2023 , The House of Lords Justice and Home Affairs released a comprehensive report on community sentences. The report features numerous references and direct quotes from Dr Eoin Guilfoyle, Lecturer in Criminal Law and Criminal Justice at µÚÒ»³Ô¹ÏÍøLaw School, written and oral testimony.
As he emphasises, "In recent years, Ireland has introduced an integrated element into the Community Service Order. A person can, in discussion with a Probation Officer, agree to participate in an education, treatment or training programme. If successfully completed, they will get a reduction of up to one-third of their community service hours."
